Kudos to Sam Pitroda for putting forward the telecom revolution. The 30+ average Indian must be shuddering when remembering the situation even in the late seventies or even the early eighties when telephones were instruments of great luxury and a definite "status symbol " and getting one meant waiting for a time that could easily stretch into years . Now apart from the almost mandatory telephone in each house in Delhi, almost every street corner has an STD/ISD booth that's also shortly ( so we hear from the Government ) to be converted into a one stop information site courtesy the Net. So its certainly with a sense of great thankfulness that I think Mr. Sam Pitroda will be remembered.. By and large, these telecom centres are easily accessible, have a waiting time of maybe one, or at the worst two customers at any given time ( due to the sheer quantity of such booths ) and have given the phrase "keep in touch" a new meaning in the world of Indiac communication. As I said, thank Mr. Sam Pitroda. Pacific Telecom(East
